Hi. My problems starts off like this and it gets worse! I was pluging in the cord from the back of the monitor to the video card and i had to pull the pc toward me and some how the whole top row of the (male) connector is gone and now my monitor doesn't get any signal. What is the easiest way to fix this and by the way the cord doesn't come off. I was thinking of getting another old monitor and cutting off the connectior and wire it back up to mine or that would not work i dont want to loose a 19inch.

Thank you all for your replies!!!

I get back in touch soon.

*shudders*

There's a video card AND a monitor that have bit it.

Just my personal opinion, but I'd say you have no choice but to buy a new monitor, and possibly new video card (if the pins are stuck in it)...It's bad news when the video pins break off.

If you have access to the right tools, I would think you could replace the connector on the video card. As far as the monitor cable, that may be tougher, but I think you're idea of splicing a new cable *may* work. Just make sure you match up the right wires! Not sure what kind of EMI you would introduce due to the splice then. My only other suggestion on that would be open up the monitor and see if you can take the cable off.

I can replace the connector on the video card for the cost of parts, shipping, and a small fee. 🙂
