Hello all - A laptop question :)

I have a gateway laptop - battery is fully charged - When I power it up with or without the AC cable the power light comes on then the drive light start as well as a couple other lights. Then it turns itself off and starts over again.. It will keep doing this till I hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn it off.. While this is going on nothing comes on the screen its stays black..

Any ideas is appreciated.. Thanks

May it be the ram or is the board going out or is all ready dead?

I did forgot that when I hit the power button - The lights start But No sounds are heard and speakers do work but no beeps of any kind. The fan kicks on for -2-3 seconds before it powers down and restarts

How old is the laptop?

Sounds like it may be an issue with the hardware. Could be video, RAM, CPU, or the main board. In this case its hard to tell and you may not have many options to fix it.

Yeah if its Video or CPU I know its done, It does have a power jack issue - The AC cable has to be set a certain way to power the laptop up or charge the battery..

As its starting up - The blue drive light, power button light, system light are blue within 2-3 seconds all lights except the ethernet light and power button light stay on the 1-2 seconds all lights go out and it trys to restart.. It will do this over and over till I hold the power button down and turn it off..

I am not sure of the age - Its a gateway model MT6451 I have looked for other's that may be having the same trouble but didnt find anything..

I checked on the gateway Website. It was made Jan-2007

I'd say its dead. I doubt you'll be able to do anything to get it up and running again. Hope you had everything backed up.
