The guy added to the freeway sign to help drivers get through a confusing part of the freeway.

The Caltrans people never did it, so he did it himself.

I think it's fantastic!

It's all over the local news stations.


And Caltrans decided to keep it.

I saw this in the paper this morning.

the 110,10 and 5 interchange in Downtown is a freaking nightmare. I don't drive that way very often, and every time I do it, I've missed the offramp I wanted to go on. I think I did miss the 5 North once

Good for this guy, but I don't necessarily consider it to be art.

I heard this guy on NPR yesterday. Pretty funny IMO. He said the hardest part was finding the little reflectors. It took him almost a year to locate some in a warehouse somewhere as they were no longer in production.

Those that live in the DC area are familiar with the Mormon Temple that sits close to the beltway in Maryland north of Washington. If you are traveling west on the beltway in this area there is a spot where some railroad tracks pass over the highway and almost directly behind the bridge you can see the Temple. Some very creative graffitti artists once managed to get on this bridge and paint across it in large white letters "Free Dorothy". It created such a traffic chaos that they actually went out and painted over it before the morning rush hour was over. Here is a picture of the Temple.

Its too bad I don't drive that way too often... I drive on the 101.

Besides, I like how they let pre-schoolers design our freeway systems. Its fascinating. I guess they must have eliminated the plans where they have head on traffic.
