Hehe, my first CPU o/c since my 1.33GHz Tbird

My very first attempt at overclocking since I moved away from my 1.33GHz Tbird is successful so far.

All I did was increase the fsb on my Epox 8K3A+ to 142MHz, and voila, my 1.6GHz AthlonXP 1900+ is running at 1.716GHz and is identified as an AthlonXP 2000+. I have been running Prime95 for an hour with no failures. Now I ought to unlock this chip and try it at 166MHz FSB at reduced multiplier settings. Hopefully my high end Mushkin PC2100 CAS2 can handle PC2700.

Anyways, there seems to be lots of methods for unlocking these AthlonXP chips. What are the most reliable/foolproof methods? I'll give one of them a shot this weekend.

Thanks in advance for any help.

remember you can get 512MB sticks of PC2700 cheap right now $85 for quality stuff all the way down to $75 for generic 🙂 just check hot deals search for 2700 😛

palo's are not good overclockers,AFAIK
unless it is a AROIA,AGOIA,blah,blah,blah
many AROIA and AGOIA can do around 1.8GHz max

It's an AGOGA, they had pretty good success if you look at Overclockers.com CPU database. I think I can pull it off with better cooling (which I'm pursuing right now).
