Hehe, all you folks with 'Rollo for Video Forum Mod - Fair and Balanced'

He's a good bloke (he's the first to admit he's somehwhat of a nvidia fanboy), he responds maturely to abuse (that arguably he wouldn't get if he wasn't posting threads of the calibre we've seen recently), he throws plenty of cash at gfx cards, and gave us some SLI benchmarks a while back...but this all does not a mod maketh

Some recent highlights you might all remember, posting a thread that links to the ATI drivers issues page (actually he didn't even link it properly, but he tried), his ATI/sacrifice issues (posted as a hissy fit response to the nvidia farcry shadow thread) that turned out to be 100% wrong and his thread about the x1800xt crossfire being only 256mb (completely wrong)...

Oh and don't forget threatening to sue AT and come back under multiple accounts/ISPs if he got banned

Not really what i'd call Mod material myself

In the 80s, there was something called a "Signature Virus". What we are seeing right now in the closing weeks of 2005 is the rebirth of this virus in AT fashion.

The fact that Rollo managed to construct a few dozen characters in plaintext, even to the point of transcending differing media types, is alone merit to his accomplishments - and thus we OWE it to ourselves (and Rollo) to place him in our hearts and signatures.

Rollo, oh fair and balanced, you have my vote for mod. Unfortunately, Editors don't really have any pull around here.

While I'm sure Rollo has his reasons for being an nVidia fanboy, his posts get tiresome when he's essentially slagging ATI off. The recent crossfire thread, as you mentioned.

I've not been here long, but all I've seen from him is anti-ATI threads/posts. I'm too lazy to browse the archives to find his better posts/threads.

Eh, if he's a mod, what'll change?

If he was to abuse the power, then he'd be removed from the mod list, plain and simple.

I can't see any problem with him being a mod, I don't support it one way or another.

Something'll happen, and it'll work out.

Actually, I'd like to be a mod.

The video forum has gotten mean spirited of late, and I'd like to try to make a difference.

I have a different perspective on what constitutes "trolling" than some of the mods, and think I'd be a good addition to the crew.

just hope to god this video forum doesn't turn into like a system war @ gamespot which is most horrible forum i may have read yet. but anyways i don't approve of fanboy as mod as they may tend to abuse the mod power. but we are all fanboy of something . As long as rollo don't go crazy with anti-ati post, then i have no problem of him being a mod.

Rollo, nothing personal but your recent "joke" threads" (Saturday evening drunk events), ATI bait/flamming and so on do speak against yourself.

You behave correctly on personal attacks but a mod should not be fanboy.

I do respect you (although you said you don't respect me for saying the 7800 shimmers) but getting to be a mod is a no no.

If you become mod, a lot of people will stop respecting the rules: if one can do that and become a mod, we all can do.

So you really feel that you are a good choice to enforce forum rules when barely a week ago you posted that, if banned, you would willingly violate the Anandtech TOS by posting under multiple accounts? And contact a lawyer to see if action could be taken against AT?
