Heh, looks like my OCZ Agility 60 GB just died :(

I discovered my secondary PC was sitting on a BSOD this morning.

I figured, weird, but well, i hadn't rebooted it for like a month, so whatever.

Restarted, & it started loading Windows, but taking way too long, & then, BSOD again D:

Restarted to see no HDD being found on SATA PORT 1...ah crap.

Haven't tried pulling it out yet, but i don't think it's going to be good news.

I guess i'll get to see if OCZ is cool with RMAs without receipt, since i bought it used. :\


Anyone have any SSD death stories?

Could be many things that are not related to your SSD.

Could be your mobo port
Could be your Chipset (instability)
Could be the sata cable is loose

I'm betting one of those before blaming a HD.

Yeah i'm off to work right away, but i will indeed be doing a lot more checking later, & i'll update accordingly

As a fellow Agility owner, I hope the drive is not at fault, as a fellow computer enthusiast, I hope you find a cheap simple resolution to the problem.

And apparently OCZ doesn't like second owners according to their warranty info...ugh D:

The same thing happened to me with a Vertex. It was dead. But I took it out of the PC, left if unpluged for 24 hours, then put it back in and it worked.

OCZ tells me that sometimes these drives need to have their buffer reset and that only happens when they are left unpowered for 24+ hours.

Strange...

I'm not sure that's the sort of thing i consider acceptable for a product, but it's unplugged, unpowered, so i'll try it later this weekend i guess, thanx for the tip.

Not many manufacturers are keen on "2nd owners" if you read their terms.
