Call of Duty Football. Captain Price is the quarterback. Over 20 teams, but Price is always the quarterback.

Anandtech has some of the worst opinions on video games, and this thread is an example of why I say so.

The company that makes these games I have no problem with, it's a business and they're doing what it takes to make money. The people that play these games on the other hand I enjoy poking fun at, especially the ones that think prestiging 4 times on COD on the 360 makes you an elite FPS player, I do find that funny.

I played the original modern warfare and it was alright, played a couple of the others now and again with friends or over someone's house...not my cup of tea. They can make 10 a year it wouldn't bother me, I'm busy playing much more entertaining games. Then again I usually use my 360/PS3 for single player games and my computer for competitive multiplayer.

Have fun playing the game as long as you know what you're playing is basically the America Online of this generation's shooters....huge and everyone plays it....doesn't make it the highest quality game in the least bit.

lol @ the subtle pc elitist found in your post.

It just has a lot of haters. A lot. Probably more haters than people who actually like console games.

Why is it people complain about paying $60 for a new COD? If it has around 15 or so new maps, it's basically like your buying a big map pack. Hell, 4 maps cost $15, so if you figure a few new weapons, some gameplay changes, and a new campaign added in on top of it, it's no different than buying the map packs for each game.

I mean, what would be the difference between buying one COD game, then several map packs after it(more than the usual 2-3) at $15 a pop, or only buying the usual 2-3 and then buying 15 new maps for $60? Is it just because they change the name and call it a new game? Would you complain less if they just called the next one an expansion to MW3?

Is there a difference, really? Is there?

Probably because $15 for 3 new maps (and 2 reused ones from previous games; isn't that how they're doing it now?) is a ridiculous price, just as $60 for a game that is the same except for 15 or so maps is also ridiculous. It's the same thing as people complaining about each new Madden game costing $60 for a roster update and little else.

I can't argue with Activision's methods though. They're making tons of money, and tons of people are happily paying $15 for each map pack and $60 for yearly expansion packs. The price is always set at what the market will bear. But I remember when expansions provided as much content as each new COD game for $30 or $40.

I guess that's just me being a cranky old man though. Clearly, the kids are fine with paying $90+ per year on Call of Duty games, and as long as that continues, nothing will change.

If the price was truly ridiculous, then no one would buy and sales would plummet. But the majority believes the prices are fine.

Subtle?

Sad thing is, I used to be like that too.

purbeast, I have you on ignore because you're nothing but a forum troll, but since your response to me was quoted I'll respond.

I'm hardly an elitist. My newest computer is a 3 year old laptop that I play TF2 on. I play my 360 and PS3 about equal with my computer...TF2 on the computer and many different games on consoles. I enjoy GTA/Tomb Raider/Uncharted/platformers way more on a console, and believe the best experience for these is on a console. Does that make me an elitst the other way now? Or because I play an old FPS game on my laptop and believe it still produces a more entertaining experience than kids screaming and getting shot in the back on Call of Duty .... that makes me an elitist? Nice argument.

You really should try producing informative posts instead of trolling the console game forums...I remember looking at your post history in here and all you do is try and incite arguments and belittle people who have anything negative to say about a console. I love my consoles and the games I choose to play on them.

Sad part is, trolls love inciting posts like this...so I guess you win...congrats bro! Hopefully someone quotes your post or I won't be reading it.

apparently $15 for 3 maps isnt ridiculous, or else it wouldn't sell so many copies. it's simple economy. people are willing to pay that much.

same with madden selling for $60 year in and year out. it's by FAR the most selling sports franchise year in and year out, yet to you the price is too much? well to the rest of hte world, apparently it's not, because it is selling so much. and again, the only people who call it a "$60 roster update" are those who don't even play it or give a shit about madden anyways.

u mad bro?

you are blind if you didn't see the elitism in your post. you basically inferred that anyone playing console FPS games now are inferior to those who play PC FPS.

they are the "american online" users while you are a FIOS user.

go you.

EDIT:

and LOL @ you letting me know you have me on ignore, then calling me out for trying to get a response from you. it's hilarious when people let everyone know they have someone on ignore. the ironing is awesome.

You're not disagreeing with me. I even said in my post that of course they'll charge as much as they do because people will pay it. That doesn't change the fact that the changes from one installment to the next are pretty minor compared to what other game series do, and it doesn't change the fact that COD map packs are more expensive than average.

I don't expect them to listen to me when I say that $60 expansion packs and $15 map packs are overpriced, I'm just trying to make the point that $60 is too much for an expansion or roster update and that $15 is too much for a map pack.

Except the difference is that only the people who don't care and aren't playing it are the ones who actually believe its little more than an expansion. Its just an oft repeated mischaracterization. There's as much difference between them as any other sequel.

Tell me what's so different about it than gears or halo. Cause it's not like I only play cod. I play everything. It's absolutely no different.

Oh, I get it now. If you're just comparing it to Gears of War and Halo, then yeah, you're not gonna find much difference in any of those. Same goes with most mainstream console dribble.

Also, it's a bit of a stretch to say "I play everything" when you only mention Halo, Gears of War, and CoD.

So, typical elitist nonsense then. I already figured that, I just wanted to see you say it.

And those are just the easy comparisons. Do you want a list of the hundreds, maybe thousands of games I've played, starting with my Atari 2600?
