Heavy or light sleeper?

I'm generally a light sleeper, just about anything can wake me. But last night, I fell asleep with my cellphone right next to my head. And several people called. Some more than once. I did not hear it ring.

Heavy sleeper. I've rolled off the bed before and not woken up. My parents have also picked me up and moved me while I was asleep (this was when I was 7 or so, when I was small enough for them to be ABLE to pick me up).

Both.

I'll sleep through any storm, violent thunderstorms that wake everyone else up in the whole city. But then it'll take one whisper from someone in the room and I'm instantly up and alert.

Very heavy sleeper.

I slept through a minor car wreck when I was a kid (asleep in the backseat and my mother was blinded by the sun and ended up side-swiping another car. My brother and sister thought I was dead or something).

A couple of years back we had tornado warnings going off in our area and my wife took our son and two cats to the closet downstairs and did the hiding in the bathroom thing. She couldn't get me to wake up.

I'm the same way.

My parents were in the Air Force, so we spent a lot of time living close to the flight line. I learned to be a heavy sleeper, and it stuck.

Falling out of the bed
In general, people trying to wake me up in the morning---apparently, I speak to them, but I can never remember doing so.

I've slept through F-4 Phantoms doing high power turns on my ceiling and Navy jets landing on my ceiling.

Heavy.

I can sleep through the fire alarms in the dorms of my school. And these ain't no normal alarms. They are like 120 dB or something, and I just keep on sleeping. Freshman year my roommate tried throwing something at me to wake me up during one, and I didn't budge.

Apparently, my wife roused me up enough last night to go get our baby out of the crib. I remember none of this.

Both.

I've slept through parties (without touching alcohol, so I wasn't passed out), storms, hurricanes, tornado warnings, alarm clocks, etc...

Get my wife to whisper my name in the morning and I'm out of bed like I was shot from a cannon.

I used to be a very light sleeper, would wake up from just the foot steps of people walking by my bedroom.

Then I became roommates with some of the noisest people on earth. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper now, can sleep through just about anything.

I used to be able to sleep through live stock car races. I'm still a mostly heavy sleeper, but my cellphone ringing can wake me from the other room, over music in my bed room and a noisy AC in the frontroom.

edit: Where's the bloody poll?!

slept through a fire alarm in the dorms last year 😛

Roomate was out of town for the weekend and wasn't there to wake me up. Everyone complained the next morning about being woken up at 4am for a fire alarm, and I was like wtf 😛

i'm an extreme heavy sleeper. Once I'm in deep sleep (about 40 min into it), nothing can wake me up for the next 4 hours.

the ticking of a clock is bothersome to begin with
if someone nudges my bed i wake up
so i guess im a light sleeper

When I lived in a dorm room, I kinda woke up but not really, one night, saw some guy standing in my room, went back to sleep.

Next morning, my roommate and I found our wallets missing....

I was on a bus trip to NY for school, and the bus driver fainted, ran off the road, drove into a field, someone grabbed the wheel, and steered the bus halfway onto the road so that we were sitting on a slant... \ I woke up and wondered why were leaning so much... 🙂

I've slept through violent thunderstorms, fireworks, you name it. To this day the only thing that can wake me up instantly is a phone ringing.

light sleeper. even the littlest creak of the house settling in has my eyes fly open. as you can imagine, i have a lot of restless nights.

I am known to do both...

Once, there was a theif in my neighbours house and the cops, the firetruck and ambulance arrived with their sirens... I did not even know what had happened until the next morning.

On the other hand, I woke up because of the sound of the train arriving to the station and the station is about half a mile away from my house.

wow, that's luck. if the bus had gone the OTHER direction (left) and hit someone, I wonder if you would've still been sleeping...
