It seems like post the initial move to dual cores, there hasn't been much done to compare CPUs/platforms on multitasking capability. Or maybe I'm just not aware of them?
How does core count matter then? What about platform? Likewise, what about the rest of the hardware (SSD, HDD, RAM, even sound devices)? Even maybe compare efficiency/usability of multi-box setup (a high but not top of the line system paired with a dedicated media solution, two mid-range setups, etc).
This seems like it could be even more important as we move to APUs, Bulldozer, Socket 2011 and with the advent of other options for various things.
