I'd say safety ratings are a major concern for many US buyers, especially in the last few years. I know I look over them. Since the average US driver is terrible and driving a land tank it is a legit concern.
I agree. Safety ratings are near the top of my list when shopping for a car. I want a safe car for that fateful day when I'm stopped at a red light and get rear ended by an Excursion going 90 mph.
No car is going to protect you against that. Might as well kiss your ass goodbye in that scenario.
OK, I changed it to 50 mph to make it more realistic. I was basically saying I'm not worried about my own driving getting me killed/injured. I'm worried about some idiot hitting me and when I'm unable to avoid it.
Safety ratings are also very important to me because I want to keep my wife and unborn child as safe as possible. I know there are situations that would be a fatality accident in any vehicle, but I also know that in many accidents the severity of injury or even a fatality could have been prevented by driving a top-safety vehicle.
