Blames everyone but himself.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...r-hospital-discharged-him-for-ordering-pizza/

he was aiming to get his weight down to 550 pounds so he could have gastric bypass surgery.

He said the decision to order pizza was a way of rewarding himself for his recent weight loss, while admitting that his “cheat meal” was also a violation of the strict eating plan he was supposed to be following

Assanti claimed in a Facebook post on Friday that the rules violation was beyond his control.

“I was on a care plan and you could’ve implemented on that care plan that I had an addiction to ordering out food. You guys knew that from the get-go the moment I got admitted there.”

Asanti went on to blame the hospital staff for allowing the pizza delivery man to enter his hospital.
“Rhode Island hospital completely sickens me,” he said. “You broke the rules, not me.”

So, apparently in addition to being addicted to food, its also possible to have a phone ordering addiction.

This is news to me. I better be careful.

Lose weight to get gastric bypass... I've heard that before. Why don't they keep doing what they're doing, and skip the invasive surgery?

And it's the hospital's fault they didn't physically prevent food from being delivered? You have to be kidding me.

My take is that since the guy knew he had an addiction to ordering food, if he didn't want to be able to do that, HE had the responsibility for ensuring there was no possibility. All I'd want to know is if he used his own phone or a phone in his room - if that's what happened, it's on him for allowing phones in the room.

Between this story and the woman who sued her own 8-year-old nephew for an overenthusiastic hug, I don't even.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/72997317/woman-sues-nephew-for-breaking-her-arm

New Yorker Jennifer Connell said Sean Tarala acted unreasonably when he leapt into her arms at his eighth-birthday party, causing her to fall to the ground and break her wrist.

...

"I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walkup so it has been very difficult," she explained. "And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan."

And then there is the damage the injury has done to her social life.

"I was at a party recently and it was difficult to hold my hors d'oeuvre plate," she added.

Is this real life?? o_O

good news is she lost. the jury took 25 minutes to come and tell her to fuck off.

my concern is that it took them 25 min to tell her fuck off???'

seriously there were people in the jury that was thinking she was right???

it should have taken 5 min
go in room
laugh
vote
come out
but 25 min they were actually debating it???

Commentors mentioned the boy's mother died last year & there may be an insurance payout she's trying to get ahold of. #1, why would you sue your own nephew, #2, especially after his mom died, #3, while living in a walk-up apartment (what does walking have to do with a broken wrist?) & having another hand available (open the handle with the left instead of the right?), and #4, complaining about having a hard time holding a party plate.

I can't fathom complaining about that while living in NYC. She mentioned Manhatten was "crowded"...I pop over there a few times a year & see all kinds of disable people on the streets begging for handouts...legless, handless, armless, and they seem to get by OK. Did her broken wrist not get better or something? I'm trying to figure out if there's more to the story because otherwise I just can't imagine why anyone would do this. It said the boy's family lived in Westport, which is a pretty ritzy area in CT, and if the mom left an insurance payout, it could just boil down to her wanting to get a share of the money.

And it's not like she was even suing for a huge multi-million-dollar figure...it was $127k. You probably need to make at least that every year to even live in Manhattan comfortably, so the financial angle doesn't make a huge amount of sense either, unless she had some kind of debt to pay off or insurance didn't cover her medical bills for fixing her wrist.

I had to double-check this wasn't an Onion article :colbert:

I'm hoping they were told to take their time, otherwise the plaintiff's lawyer would appeal due to the jury not properly deliberating (if there is such a thing).

entitlement generation

blaming anyone and everyone else for your suffering is plain wrong

this is destroying the society
noone had an easy life all of us had their share of problems
but we did not give up we kept going an trying the best
now blame someone and get money

but you know
if we all sit and blame
then there will be noone to make the money or the products to be given
plain and simple

and serious you need to go 800 before you ask for help??
300 is not a sign thing are already too bad???

Lock him up in a room with some yeast and multi-vitamin for a year and let nature take it's course.

In the case of our big Scotsman, Mr A B, the staff in the medical school at the University of Dundee kept a close eye on him. He did not eat any food, but the staff gave him yeast for the first 10 months and multi-vitamins every day. Potassium is essential for the proper working of the heart, and when his potassium levels got a little low around the 100-day mark, he was given potassium tablets for about 70 days. He defaecated infrequently, roughly every 40 to 50 days.

Blood samples were taken every fortnight, and his carbohydrate metabolism was checked on nine occasions during the 382 days of his fast. Surprisingly, for the last eight months of his fast, his blood glucose levels were consistently very low. They were around two millimoles, which is about half of the bottom end of the normal range. Even so, he did not suffer clinically from this abnormally low blood glucose level.

His weight dropped from 207 kilograms to 82 kilograms. Some five years later, he had regained only 7 kilograms.

Ah. I remember seeing his videos on YouTube a few years back. His "dick" attitude is part of his sketch. It's kind of fucked up that people are using his YouTube persona as his own. The kid is young, and probably is dying inside now.

No matter what, he was getting help - I am sure he has no hope at all now.

You don't know much about gastric bypass surgery do you?

While I don't know much about gastric bypass. I did hear Sharon Osbourne (who had a band installed which give similar less permanent results) say that people cheat on them by drinking melted ice cream and shakes so it is possible if someone is f'ed up or determined enough.

My mother in law, sister in law, and cousin's wife all defeated gastric bypass surgery or lap band surgery through years of hard work overeating and stretching their stomachs back out. It can be done.

DOWN to 550 lbs? Holy fuck. At what point do you realize "I'm fat. I should probably try to eat a little healthier, maybe exercise a bit, make myself more aware" ? A good starting point is maybe when your ass doesn't fit on a normal person toilet bowl. Or maybe you can't see your weiner when you stand straight up? Out of breath walking up a flight of stairs? Order an entire pizza for yourself? Can't fit in a regular bathroom stall and need to use the handicapped one? :hmm:

He has a problem similar to an alcoholic or heroin user. He's not in control and will continue to be out of control until he decides to stop. No one can change this but him.
From watching the fat show on TV about people like him its a tough battle that seems strange to other people. Imagine being so fat you have to crap your pants when nobody is home to support you on the toilet or clean your ass when you are done. Imagine having to constantly manipulate people to help you get food and perform the previous tasks. You need to keep company with people who will enable it too.

Wait, so his dad talks about how he can't get him up the stairs. That means this guy is immobile. That means the only way for him to eat anything is to have it delivered to his jabba-the-hut palace sled. And the dad's worried that he'll eat something he shouldn't?

Take away his phone. Problem solved.
