This is what Republicans are allowing. Let some heavily armed white nationalist attempt to kill hundreds of black students and they just don't care. This is the price for their precious 2A absolute right. In their minds this would be a 2-fer. Strut their 2A rights in everyone's faces and take out a bunch of black people in the process. Yes, I'm pre-labeling him a white nationalist because of his actions.

Republicans are vile and disgusting. People better wake the fuck up and become single issue voters.

Not sure what his intentions are, but whether just intimidation or mass murder they were ill and they constitute crimes. Sounds like he was not heavily armed when arrested (most of the guns were left in his car) so let's see what the investigation uncovers.

While that mustache is actionable, I'm not convinced that he committed a weapons crime. In my fair state, bringing a carload of weapons to a college campus is perfectly legal. I'm curious to see what happens.

Remember the Las Vegas shooter? I bet it was legal to take loads of guns and thousands of rounds of ammo to his room.

I'm also pissed off students were not notified of this loon until now.

I think in some states grenade launchers, rocket launchers and even flame throwers are legal (with a license). One of these days someone is going to get hold of one and use it.

From what I read this had nothing to do with Republicans or race or white nationalists or any idea of killing black students or even with the university. It would appear the man had mental health issues involving cults.

According to the court documents he ran right up to officers on campus asking for help telling them he was afraid of being taken by a religious cult that was after him. That he had the weapons in his car for protection because he was afraid for his life.

The stash this guy had in his car is equally part of the problem. 2A be damned.
two handguns, two shotguns, one rifle, a crossbow, a machete, stun gun, hatchets, knives, choking devices, pepper spray, a blow dart gun, brass knuckles, and other weaponry in his vehicle. They also said he had more than 1,000 rounds of various ammunition.

I'm still suspicious. If he was really scared of a cult a police station would be a good place to go not an HBCU.

Doesn’t sound like the kind of person who should be legally allowed to own firearms, but there’s no actual mental fitness test for firearm ownership so that’s a moot point I guess.

More info may come out that redefines everything, but, personally, I don't think anyone who is scared to death that he will be kidnapped by a cult that's chasing him is thinking logically about the best place to go for help.

Sounds like the type of person that should have ease access to weapons of war.

He's either mentally ill (paranoid) or lied about the religious cult. Since he told police about the cult during the incident as opposed to after being arrested, I'm guessing mentally ill.

Was probably not going to harm anyone on campus, but it's understandable that people would freak out given all the recent school shootings.

We may find out he has a history of mental illness but was allowed to buy the guns anyway.

Giving the OP the benefit of doubt, I decided to look up what HBCU was. A Black College.
Least your race based muttering makes sense, given sorely lacking context.
But still, why would he turn himself in to cops? Crazy.

Choice of location tho, while sus, is not enough to substantiate your fear. Hopefully he is locked away for a long time and (finally) banned from firearms.

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me, but no, the notion of a segregated College for Blacks has not been something I've come across before.
It's not a segregated college for African Americans. Being you haven't heard of HBCU only shows your ignorance. I would venture to say that nearly every member who posts in this P&N forum knows what HBCU stands for. It's been a term/acronym for probably 50-60 years.
BTW, plenty of white students attend HBCUs

Homer's OP gave all the context that was needed by saying HBCU in his title.

I didn't know what the acronym of HBCU stood for (or that the acronym was a thing) and my ex wife graduated from one when we were together and thanks to her I was there a good bit. Thanks for the link.

Because HBCUs haven't been the intentional targets of white nationalists. Guess I'm just being paranoid but I'll highlight your ignorance by stating NOBODY is targeting colleges because they are predominately white.

Let's just move on to banning drag shows

Ironically, I knew about the colleges and universities in the link, but not the acronym. I too had to look it up.
