I finally got this game on a pretty good deal, and I just started playing it this past weekend.

After playing it for about 2-3 hours total (probably over 1/2 way done too heh) I can say that I am 100% convinced that all the people who talked trash about this game were one of the following...

1. Xbox360 fanboys who heard it was short and wanted to talk trash just to talk trash.
2. People who have never even played the game and again, heard about it being short
3. People who just couldn't get over the God-of-War-ish that this game has in it.

I would also like to say that this game is one of the most fun games I've played in quite some time. It controls and plays VERY similar to God of War, and obviously has stolen a lot of gameplay elements from it. But is that a bad thing? Not at all.

It has a pretty decent story, it's very cinematic and the voice acting is actually very well done. The game is beautiful also, however there is a decent amount of tearing which can take away from the great graphics at points. But there are a few points I kind of just stopped and looked around to admire the scenery.

I was finished with 3 acts of MGS4 when I put this in, and I don't plan on going back to MGS4 until I finish this game which probably will be soon since it's so short heh. And after I do finish it, I plan on going back and getting 3 stars on each level as well. It's just a really fun game, and I recommend at least renting it if you haven't yet.

Just wait till you get to some of the "twing twang" levels and have to pop shot guards in the head and the camera angle does a 180 on you every time you try to zoom in.

ARGGGGG!!!!

Outside of a few gameplay tweaks it really is an incredibly beautiful and enjoyable game. Amazing showcase of the system for being basically a "console release" title.

But it really was short though. Easily beat it in a few days of casual playing.

Sold. I'm gonna go rent this tonight. I played the demo and thought it was really fun even though the reviews weren't too great. The graphics were indeed very nice on the demo level.

It looked fun to me. It wouldn't sell me a PS3 but it would be one of the first games I bought for one.

I complained because I won't pay $60 for such a short game... and I forgot to look for it when it was $30 =\.

I went to Target to see if I could get in on the $15 clearance, but no dice :(
I'd definitely pay $15 for it.

That's my only problem and only reason for trashing. The demo was absolutely beautiful, fighting was fun. It's $40 right now, still too much, even for 2 run throughs.

Oh, Heaven Sword made it in my top favorite games of all times for me. I LOVED IT! If you like the game now, you'll love the last part.

I played the demo again the other day and it did leave me wanting more, so I'll probably pick it up once I can find it for less than $25, which doesn't seem to be possible right now.

I remember really enjoying the original God of War on the PS2 and this felt quite similar, so it can't be all that bad.

If it is sub 10 hours of playtime with little or no replay value, might as well just rent it from BlockBuster for ~$7.

it has replay value imo, trying to get the 3 star rankings for every part of the game.

Yeah, not everyone is into that, though.

Well, you could have this conversation with a shitload of games then. I'd be willing to bet that if you purchase a decent amount of games, you'd find more than a few that you put less than 10 hours into before putting them back on the shelf for good.

I should say, though, that Heavenly Sword is one of my top 3 favorite games on the PS3, people gave it too much shit online. It's a great game that I'd like to see a sequel to, but I don't think we will.

That's not the same as the replay of a game consisting over playing it over again to get a higher rating...

Agreed - no one is saying it's a bad game - just that it is something most people will consume and then shelf - in which case a rental is more fitting.

I actually hold Bioshock in the same regard.

I thought those were some of the best levels. I really enjoyed shooting some poor sap in the head, leg, or nuts with an arrow from 200 yards.

REALLY good game. Long enough for me, I dont want a marathon game. I dont have all that much time to game. 6-8 hours is fine with me, when its as good as this one was.

Hope you dont go see any movies. Because they have a much lower dollar/entertainment ratio.

Fighting Bohan at the end was fucking hard. The rest of the game is cake and leaves you unprepared for how badass he is.

Or he could just buy one of the many, many other games that will give him far more hours of enjoyment for his $60 and rent the short single-player only games like Heavenly Sword.

Re: movies - Gamespot says Heavenly Sword is 6 1/2 hours long. That's $9.23/hr @ $60. Where are you paying much more than $20 to see a movie?

Okay I think i finished that part last night you guys were talking about where you are basically sniping with the arrows from a distance.

I wish I didn't get 3 stars my first try (after "dying" the first time actually) because i wanted a reason to go back and play it heh.
