Heaven is 'a fairy story,' scientist Stephen Hawking says..

The concept of heaven or any kind of afterlife is a "fairy story," famed British scientist Stephen Hawking said in a newspaper interview this week.
"I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail," the physicist said in an interview published Sunday in Britain's Guardian newspaper. "There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.

No 72 virgins for me..... :sneaky:

good thing that Jesus touches the egg at conception and injects the soul--long before the brain ever develops, let alone a rudimentary nervous system!

FAIL, Mr Hawking. FAIL!

This thread is now about people who really like to get dressed up and ridiculed!

I don't get why every time Hawking says something it gets in the news. I didn't think he was even that well respected in the scientific community. He's certainly no Einstein.

You are aware he is considered one of the leading authorities on astrophysics today, and was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics and Cambridge for 30 years. A position once held by Isaac Newton. To say he's well respected is an understatement. He is this generation's Einstein.
