any suggestions for some good cooling on an AMD tbird 1ghz?

i'm looking for something that has an easy clip to take off and put on. i've never taken off a HSF before so i dont want to screw anything up or break anything.

From what I've seen, most all heatsinks for Socket A CPUs have the two-clip style, which is a nailbiter to attach (actually, it's not that bad).

Ask around in Cases/Cooling, or CPUs/Overclocking, most people will recommend the Taisol something-or-other, or the FOP something-or-other (sorry, I don't recall the exact model #s)

Why do you hate it?

well, basically, if you're not scared, then get the fop-32.
also, the alpha pal6035 has a good clip design -- it's got a 3 section clip so you can manuevre (spelling) the hsf.

however, due to some recent reviews, i must also reccomend the thermaltake volcano II. from the pics, u can see that the clip design was made for the "screwdriver trick". it's actually a pretty good cooler, with temps at around 40-45 degrees at full load. not bad

SuperOrb is a very unspectacular heatsink when you actually test performance with a good-testing method.

I have a SuperOrb and I am very pleased with it. It is more than adequate for my 1.2...runs at around 45 under load.

Doolie11,

Not very difficult. I never installed one before this either so I was a little aprehensive too. However, take your time and don't do anything dumb (like removing the pads) you should be golden. I have since taken it off and replaced and it is pretty straight forward for me too. I am still not dissapointed with my Superorb.
