I just got my athlon tbird 900, and kt7-raid mobo...I got the proc in the socket, now I need to put on that giant heatsink that came with it. I got the first side on properly, but when I push down the other side of the latch, the hook doesn't reach the lug on the other side of the socket! what should I do? and should pushing down the other side of the latch require lots of pressure?

Yep, the new heatsinks take quite a bit of force to get them attached, just make sure you push slowly or you may end up snapping one of the tabs off of the motherboard... :Q

I had the same problem too. Couldn't get the thing to clip on no matter how hard I tried. I finally took the metal bar out, and bent it a little. It was still tight, like it needs to be, but I was able to get it on :)

those damn things hurt your thumbs so much they feel like you pressed that thin metal through your skin.

It's kind of a two man job. One to push down un-godly hard on the clip and another to pull the clip out to hook it to the lug.

it's amazing that the processor is so great, yet the heat sink is so poorly designed. I know it has to be tight, but the way they have is surely unnecessarily difficult. time to bend the latch some more :p
