Heatsink Suggestions

Dear All:

I am soon going to purchase a new heatsink for use with a 1156 mobo and am slightly unsure of which product I should purchase.

I was initially going to go with the Hyper 212+ but am wondering whether I should purchase something more high-end from Thermalright or Noctua, for example. As an aside, should I worry about the larger weight that usually accompanies such coolers?

I will be running an i5 760 and will OC to a moderate degree but nothing crazy.

Thanks, in advance, for any comments/thoughts/suggestions.

Regards

If you want to spend the money, I would go with the Noctua. I am using the NH-D14 and I have not encountered any problems from the extra weight. I don't move mine around that much either.

Just make sure you have a case that is deep enough for the Noctua. I have the Antec 1200 and it is probably an inch or less(eyeballing it) away from the side panel.

You may want to try the stock cooler out first. I just built an i5 760 rig and I am using the stock cooler since I don't overclock or game either. At idle, it runs in the upper 20's. I have not tested it under load.

If you are not going to OC much and have a case with good air flow, the CM Hyper Plus should be fine. But if you want something better and your case can fit; look into a Noctua like memoryram mentioned. Or the Thermalright Silver Arrow, which is a tad better than the current Noctua's.

I have a Mugen 2 cooler and is pretty happy with it. However, if you want to save money 212+ is lot of cooler for the money.

If you want additional cooling you could just add an additional fan to your 212+ for push/pull. The cooler comes with the bracket to do it.
