Heatsink smaller than the SI-97 for an Athlon MP

I just decided to go with something quieter to cool my Dual Athlon system and decided to go with a Thermalright SI-97, Vantec Steath 92mm fan combo. The heatsinks are just large enough that I cant use both at once when the fan clips are in place.

I'm looking for heatsink/fan suggestions that I can use (are smaller than the SI-97) and are still relatively quiet. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

How close (physically) are you to making this solution work? You're not going to get much better cooling than the Thermalright solution you've purchased. Is there a way to trim/modify/shave one of the HS's to make them fit in your situation?

Well, taking another look at it, I'm not that close, 2 - 3 cm to get it centered on the CPU. I don't think I"ll be able to trim that much.

Ouch. OK, you're a bit cramped there 😛
Take a look At Overclockers. You'll be able to get a feel for the performance you want/need. The dimensions you may have to firgure out yourself - there're not just too many people with SMP with this kind of first-hand knowledge.
Good-luck
