Can anyone recommend a replacement heatsink/fan for a conroe E6400 on an Asus P5N32SLI SE Deluxe that will significantly outperform the stock one, but still allow room for the included chipset fans?

I purchased and installed a Thermalright HR-01-775, and that did significantly lower CPU temps, but the chipset ran hot. With the stock unit, my chipset is cool, but the CPU runs hot.

With stock heatsink/fan and chipest fans: CPU=50+C, Chipset=38C

With HR-01-775: CPU=42C, Chipset=52C

Either scenerio means even a 5% OC fails. (Above temps taken with Asus PCProbeII. CPU temps with Core Temp range around 62C at idle)

It sounds like you don't have enough (any?) airflow in the box. Are you referring to the fans included with the motherboard for use with water cooling? Try installing SpeedFan.

To answer your question, I just installed a Zalman 9500 on my A8N32-SLI Deluxe, which is very similar. The combination is excellent.

Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 for under $25. You're simply wasting money by getting a $60 HSF. BTW, that $30 NB heatsink? Total waste of money.

Hi there we have a simular setup except I am not sli.

I just built an e6400 rig. I used the Scyth Ninja 1100P Rev B HS uses push pins like your stock cpu cooler make sure they are latched well and it's rock solid and I have moved my system around allot . I also liked the thermalright ultra 120 but was not available when I was building my system.

I Also have the same NB HS as you IMO not a waste of money was $16.00 for me. Plus the thin 60mm fan. Also your case fan choice and air flow are very important factors to consider .

My old case was not up to the challenge so I went with a case that has dual 120mm fans and based on suggestions from folks here on the forum replaced all 120mm fans with yate loons excellent fans for CFM and noise.

Also upgraded my power supply to one that uses a quiet 120mm fan for added cooling and noise considerations.

So my result is the following 41c idle and 51c under full load with orthos running it hits 58-60c
OC'ed to 3.24 ghz

Last thing I used AS5 on everything NB, SB CPU HS's can't go wrong with AS5
Good luck!

thanks for the recommendation. As for airflow, I have a 120mm exhaust, an 80mm sid intake, and two 80mm front intakes. Should be enough.

(That was a problem with the thermalright - the side fan had to be installed outside the case - very ugly)

And, yes, I was referring to the included fans. Without them, it runs hot.
