Interesting question you bring to us. I too pondered getting a peltier cooler in the form of the chilltek unit. I've read good reviews for the tec units however I also worried about how it would work if the tec were to fail. I then found this baby http://www.enzotechnology.com/cpu.htm and read several reviews and was sold which is why I"m using it today. No tec to fail or draw extra power plus it has a large quiet fan however it is heavy at 1.83lbs but the mounting system holds it securily to my lga775 mb. If you do decide to do the tec thing I'd check out the chilltek or victor gaming monsoon 2 lite instead both of which offer a control panel that fits into your 5.25 drive bay. I've got pics of the enzo in my system here http://gphillips515.photosite.com/Album1/.

The Ultra-X also out-performs the TEC coolers anyway :).
