Heatsink question...

I just recently received a Thermaltake Silent Tower Heatsink (this)
from a friend for free. He got it from another friend but didn't have any use for it so he gave it to me. I'm currently using a stock AMD heatsink with my 3500+ @ stock speeds. I have an A8N Deluxe mobo. I was wondering if this was compatible with my mobo... I was reading the instruction manual that came with the heatsink and it talks about 4 mounting holes in your motherboard. I looked but didn't see any... is there something I can do that will make it work? Or do I have no use for it now? That would suck :|

it states that it is compatible with K8, which is the type of AMD processor you have. Is there not a mounting braket that came with it, as there is only two holes on a motherboard to mount the Heatsink for a skt 939 processor, as far as i know anyway.

did you not get these with the heatsink.. im sure if not, you can get them from ebay or buy them separately, probably by contacting the manufacturer them selves.

I have everything that came with it. It was still in the box when he gave it to me. But what I'm saying is the "H" bracket shown in that link has 4 holes - 1 on each tip. My motherboard (A8N Sli Deluxe) doesn't have the holes for the screws to go through. All I see is silver circles where the holes would be. I have the 2 holes that allow the stock heatsink to go on, that's all.

i don?t know if i am understanding you right, but yes the two holes are the only holes that secure the heatsink (any heatsink) to the motherboard .. you will have to remove the plastic stock heatsink surround before installing the new heatsink/H-plate, the two holes that are left over are the ones that you use.

I have no experience with that heatsink, but i would imagine that you secure the correct H block to the heatsink, with four screws, then fasten the H block (with heatsink attached) .. to the motherboard, using the two previously used holes..

I found it, it says use the 4 holes. But then in small print on the last page of the instruction booklet.. it says you can use the 2 holes if your mobo doesn't have 4. I'll be installing it tomorrow, let you know how it works out. Thanks Rich
