Heatsink question for overclocking graphics Card

I have the GeForce FX 5700 (256mb) Le graphics card. My motherboard is the Asus A8V deluxe socket 939 mobo. I would like to get a better graphics card yet my motherboard is AGP. I dont think I would want to spend 300 dollars for a nice graphics card that is going to become outdated in the near future. That is why I want to overclock my graphics card. I have tried to overclock it already with RivaTuner (stock hsf), but didnt get that much mhz before the texture turned purple and I had to turn it down.

Do you think I could get a way better overclock? Or is it just a waste of money. Right now the mhz for the video card is at 210/420. I would like to get the max for my video card. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have never changed the heatsinkfan on a video card, so i wondered if I chose the right one. Zalaman is supposed to be good right?

im overclocking my video card... Wondered what heat sink I should get and how much of a increase i would get with it.

THIS is pretty cheap. does your card get hot when you overclock? because heat isn't always the factor that could be limiting you.

i dont know how hot it gets. Is there a program that will tell the temp? Price... I dont mind if i spend around 20-30 dollars. I want to get the farthest I can in overclocking my video card, and I want to keep it very cool. Will that one do that? Thanks
By the way. I can overclock very far if it is cool right? Or is there a limit on my video card or even if I bought a better cooler, i wouldnt probably get to go farther right?

it all depends. you will definately get something more if you get a cooler, but the card could just hit a wall. theres no way to know. also, there has to be a temp sensor built into the card, and that old card probably doesnt have one. the vf700 is really good. the other option would be the arctic cooling nvsilencer 6 rev. 2

Some people say this advantage is actually none, but I would advise the AC over the Zalman, as it blows the hot air out of your case, which lowers your overall case temps... If you're looking at the pure cooling performance, my guess would be that the Zalman is slightly better, but only by a very small margin...
