Heatsink pin on card broken...what can I do?

I just bought a Radeon 9500, but upon opening the package, I found that one of the two push pins were broken, so the heatsink was sliding around with one pin on.

The broken pin has basically lost it's tip that keeps it held in once pushed in. I'm not missing the spring or anything...

Actually, I'm having a hard time getting the second pin off...it seems like these are a one time use sort of thing, and that the pin head isn't bendable to be removed.

Is there anything I can do to fix the pin? I'd rather be able to do something myself now, then have to send the card back and wait for a return.

Yet another option: RMA your card.

The arctic adhesive is $10, the Zalman is $30, and this video card is $45. Thanks, but too much money for something so cheap. The card is not for me, anyway. It's for a friend whom I am supposed to get it to tomorrow night.

:)

I was thinking more along the lines of home remedies...think maybe I can superglue a little ball onto the end of the pin once I push it into place?

Alright. Also, very thin zip ties might work too. Good luck.

Hmm, that's an idea...I'm going to rummage around the house and see if I can find some superglue and/or zip ties, and we'll see where this goes from there.

I found a new tube of super glue...had to poke the application nozzle open...unfortunately, glue squirted out when I did so, and instantly dried onto my hands...god dammit. How do I get this stuff off?
