Heatsink Making Buzzing sound...

I just put together my amd 3400+ machine, and had no problems with it until today. The heatsink fan started buzzing, so i looked in my asus probe, and it was running at about 4846 rpm's. Isnt this way too high? Anyone know why its running so fast? ALso, would you recommend getting a better heatsink, or should this one do fine.

I would recommend the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu. It won't make any noise, plus it is one of the best coolers made (especially when you consider the price compared to top coolers).

Or get the AlCu version. With the price of the HSF (should be able to have it for like $35-40 shipped) and sturdiness of the Athlon64 retension clip, you should be fine, and it will have enough power to cool pretty much any A64 that comes down the line.

If you are afraid of fan failure, just spend a little more now and get a Thermalright heatsink so that you can easily replace the fans. The Zalman is nice too, but if the fan goes bad, then you'd probably end up getting a whole new HSF.
