Hey guys? I?m a newbie when it comes to building computers. I need some advice. I have a thermaltake volcano II with a AMD T-Bird on an asus a7v133 board. I?ve read that putting too much pressure on the CPU from the heatsink may crack the core. My questions is there a particular method like installing it at a side angle and then clipping it or just put the whole thing on top of the processor and use a screwdriver to press down on the clip? I read that shims can?t be used for this HS. Any suggestions?

Those 4 little pads around the cpu are there to hopefully prevent you from cracking your cpu core.

Don't worry too much, as long as you're not bashing down hard on it, your cpu can take some pressure.

here is a decent HSF socket a install guide you can follow.
