Hey all,

This is my first build so I'm pretty nervous. I'm trying to install the supplied heatsink from my AMD 64 3500+ Processor onto my A8V Deluxe mobo but am having problems. I can't get the metal clips to seat right over the brackets. One goes on fine but it seems the other is too short to reach without really pushing down on it. I don't want to do that for fear of wrecking the processor.

Can anyone offer some advice? I'm getting strung out over this.

Make sure you take it easy and the heatsink is properly centered. I think we all were nervous at this point on our first build;)

I was even more nervous the time the screwdriver slipped off the bracket and cut into the motherboard...eesh! Thank god abit saw fit to not put any traces on that side! :D

This is what I'm talking about. If you look at the picture it looks like the lever is coming into contact with the screw, prohibiting it from going all the way down.

Also, because some of the thermal paste is on the CPU, do I have to worry about it drying out while the heatsink is not installed?

Just keep pulling the lever try the other way put it so the lever side is on the other side towards the power supply.

the lever mechanism is at 45 degrees you have to put the end on opposite the handle first then pull the other end over the last three notches then lever the handle all the way over.you shouldnt need a screwdriver at all
