I've decide since i've got $30 to spend on some computer parts, I mine as well replace my noisey Volcano 7+. Its crappy and relatively loud. I've got a Lanboy Case with 2 old powersupply fans on the 6v line almost pushing air along with a loud ThermalTake SmartFan and a whiney Western Digital HD. I've got my 1700+ @ 1.7v 166x11 = 1833. Getting a stick of Crucial PC2700 I'll see if I can get to 12x200 @ 1.75v using Samsung PC2700. I am getting around 45c for full load temps with my fan @ 2800~ RPMS, my heatsink is not flat at all. I've been looking at the following heatsinks...

VANTEC AeroFlow VA4-C7040. For AMD socket A 462 and Intel 370/FC-PGA/FC-PGA2. - Its around $30, not entirely copper, and excellent clip design. Quiet fan, but loud as its moving air.

Zalman CNPS6000-Cu Pure Copper CPU Cooler for AMD Socket 462 and Intel Socket 370 - Cool looking heatsink, $3 dollar over the budget. Very quiet, plan looking black fan. 1 clip design, fragile? FanMate included.

COOLERMASTER AERO 7+. For Socket A, 370, 462, 7 and It uses copper skived fin design. - Hamster Fan, $35. Comes with a PCI and Flopply Drive Bracket for fan speed audjustment.

Thermalright SK-7 ( Heatsink ONLY ). All Copper heat spread. Dimension: 85 (L) x 65.5 (W) x 42 (H) mm (without fan). Can be used with 60MM, 70MM, or 80MM fans - $20, would be great to pair up with a led fan. Just which quiet and efficent led fan?

Should I just smack myself for being over concerned with this heatsink issuse? I absolutley hate the noise my computer makes though.

I dont like noisy fans either.
I'm waiting for an SK-7 I bought off FS/T to get here for my T-bred 2200+.
I'm have a smartfan II going on it, I hope I can run the fan slower than on my current heatsink.

Go with the sk-7 or a $3 cheaper AX-7 (what I use mostly) and any led fan.. they are all relatively noisy, so you either need a rheobus or you can rewire a 4-pin connector to 7v the fan (search google for ("7v trick" virtual) for a diagram)... you could try to same with the smartfan.
As for the HD, get a seagate barracuda V :D

There is no contest here.. the Thermalright SK-7 wins hands down.. if you want some adjustability on LED fans, looks like you'll need to hook it up to a rheobus
