I am in the middle of building an older PC for my parents, and I was wondering can I use a Zalman CNPS7700 with an Abit IC7 Max3. On Zalmans website is says it cant with the Ic7 Max but since this is a new model can I use it. I a willing to mod if needed.

The reason it says it can't use it is because the components stick up too high. Unless you're willing to do a capacitor mod, I don't think you should go with that cooler. Why not get a CNPS9500 or a scythe infinity/ninja, or a thermalright U-120?
