Heatsink for Prescott (LGA 775) CPU

A friend has a Prescott on an Abit AA8XE mobo and wants to replace the stock HSF (too loud and inefficient). I have no experience whatsoever with Intels (have worked with AMDs), and would rather not take the system apart any more than absolutely necessary (both due to lack of familiarity and because it it not my own). Cost is not really a factor, although she would like to spend less than $40- ease of installation is the most important factor, followed by noise/efficacy.

Any help would be appreciated, both in terms of HSF recommendations and install tips/caveats.

Thanks in advance.

You will get reponces here but you will get many more over there.

Try to find one that uses stock mounting brackets. Otherwise, you will most likely have to remove the mobo from the case.

Intel, AMD it is the same process. Remove HSF from CPU, etc.
