Hey guys,

I've been getting some nasty bluescreens and freezes lately. My CPU's (PIII 733EB) running at about 55 degrees, so I'm guessing I need a new heatsink.

Any suggestions on a reliable, quiet brand?

Thanks ~

55 degrees is warm, but if that is the max temp you are running at, I don't think that's the problem. The Slot I P3 cooler that I have, I bought from Tennmax. It has worked quite well as an upgrade from the standard Intel HSF. I'm not sure if it's quite or not, my room is fairly noisy anyway.

Wait... you don't think it's heat? What else could be giving me all these bluescreens / freezes?

It seems to only happen when running games or animation.

Hmmmm

i doubt its your hs/f tho it wouldnt hirt to get a better one since they can be had for bout 20-30 bucks...

probably just your OS is corrupted and needs a reinstall...what are you running? 98, 2k, ME (shudders), XP?

I'm currently running 98SE, I've been slow to decide which i should upgrade to... 2k or XP.

You don't think running at 55 celsius would cause blue screens? I'm getting the same vxd error whenever it does bluescreen.

Nah, 55C is not hot enough to lock up a P3.

If you do decide to load a new OS, go with XP.

I just remembered that I also often get system crashes when running Direct X tests.

What's the dilly with that?
