Is it necessary to use thermal compound or grease or a thermal pad when you are attaching a heatsink/fan to a tbird 800 socket A?

I don't have any of that, just wondering if it is needed or if its just something extra?

hmm... well after reading a bit on this forum, is that little red sticker hanging off the edge just begging to be pulled off that eventually turns blue when it gets right to the center of the bottom of the heatsink a thermal pad? Should I leave it on?

WTF??

Take the red sticker off... That is cover the PCTC(phase-change-thermal compound). You can either use that(easier to use) or scrape it off and put on a quality thermal compound.

Mike

P.S. What is up with the attitude?

Thanks for the help Mike, its just that I don't have many hours in the day and am always rushed. And it seems that there are lots of people that are on this forum at any time who could have answered the question, and I bet more than one person that could have answered the question read my post and simply decided against dropping me a quick hint.- That is why I had an attitude, I appologize to those that weren't one of these people, but really, why do people ignore posts and not help so so so often? Any time someone asks a question and I can help them, I do... Am I just different from everyone else?

Dude...you waited fifteen minutes. Anyone who has ever posted to a message board before knows they will not get an answer in that period of time. Nobody wants to read every post and answer the same question over and over again. If you wanted a faster solution, I suggest searching the old threads where your question may have already been answered.
