Heatsink/fan Installation

I recieved my GlobalWIN FOP32 and have no idea how to attach it to my TBird (socket A). How do you do it?

well leave the feat on that came with the chip and just put some thermal compound on it and attach the clip down and your set.

uhh forgive my stupidity..but what is thermal compound and where can I get some?

You can go to the nearest radio shack to pick up some. If you want the best, get some arctic silver from http://www.2cooltek.com. It's kinda expensive though. The radio shack stuff should be good enough...it's only a couple bucks.

Thanks...the thermal compound was at the bottom...Now I have no idea on how to clip it to the cpu?

Put your chip in first, lock it down with the lever. Then install the heatsink, clipping it to the sides of the cpu retainer you just locked.

I'm having trouble clipping one of the clips to the cpu. I Have to put a lot of pressure but it's still hard to do... Is it safe to put a lot of pressure on the cpu?

NO IT ISN'T!!!

Damn don't crack that core, it will chip easy, if the H.S. wasn't specifically made for the SocketA chip don't put it on if it's too tight, it will put too much pressure on the core and possibly break it.

take the heatsink apart if its too tight, and bend the clip so the ends dont bend up as much. That way it will be less tight. Of course the clip is tight, the duron core is thinner than the coppermine
