Hi i have the asus x-mars fan and a asrock dual sata 939 motherboard with a opteron 165 and was wondering how and what programs i can adjust my fan speed on this heatsink fan so it won't get as hot as it's gettin cause it's only goin to 3100rpm when temp gets high but can do 5400rpm it says. I got speed fan but can't change the fan speed it seems unless i can't find the setting and from what i checked in the bios i can't change it to. This processor says it got auto detect and it goes up to 3100 when it hits high 50's on the cpu but thats as far as it went and it got that high to. I also seen this from a reviewer at newegg Pros: Its pretty. All that can be said....
Cons: Replaced my stock heatsink with this garbage. I'm running a 4200 X2 and with this cooler it ran 55c at idle. Didn't want to try any games or stress tests with this heatsink. Fan will not auto adjust !... More »
Set bios to run at full speed, the fan will not. Called ASUS and a level 2 tech guy said it will not run above 2000rpms untill my cpu hits 60c and you cannot make it run full speed yourself. STAY AWAY. 4 hundred for my cpu, ill never let it hit 60c !!!
Other Thoughts: My stock heatsink runs at 3500rpm and keeps my x2 at 50 under verry heavy load! At idle it sits at 42c (remember its stock all aluminum) This thing sucks. Get something else, for me im sticking with my stock HSF. As always NEWEGG was more than happy to refund my money. They ROCK !!!!!!!
Well i hope someone can help me on this thanks for your help in advanced.
