Heatsink/fan Advice Needed

LogicallyInsane

Junior Member
In the process of picking out parts for my first computer build, so far I'm set on the i5 3570k, ASUS P8Z77-V PRO, and G.SKILL RIPJAWS X 16GB (2x8GB). I need to know what CPU heatsink/fan to get. Been looking at Noctua or Phanteks but having a hard time figuring out what to get. Budget is not a concern, and I want something that will do an excellent job at cooling but also one that doesn't have issues fitting in a full-size tower and preferably aesthetically pleasing. All unbiased advice greatly appreciated.

Well first off, wait for Haswell

Second off, Hyper212+ will get the job done.

D14 is high end

and overkill would be a custom water setup.

I have the Enermax ETS-T40 in my build and it was easy to install (simpler than the Hyper 212 in my experience) and is stone cold quiet. It's about $5 more than the 212 unfortunately.

I'd suggest 212 as well. Great bang for the buck, great overall in fact, and will allow a pretty good overclock if you want it.

If that style doesn't turn you on, or if you plan to O/C like mad but forgot to mention it, then start looking at some of the water coolers, there's a good review currently near the top of the main Anandtech page.

Much thanks to all for the advice, after looking into it I'm going with the CM 212, reviews look great, don't know how I missed that one.
