I have a MSI Pro2a, but it has the same layout as the Pro and Pro2. Has anyone pulled off the golden heatsink on the northbridge and either added arctic silver, or possibly a blue orb chipset cooler? Or perhaps something else? I'm very interested in adding some arctic silver, but don't want to ruin the northbridge by yanking the HS off.

its not held down by any adhesive or anything, at least mine wasn't, i just took out the white pins, wiped off the thermal grease (it had a lot!) and i put on a blorb w/ artic silver with super glue on the corners... hopefully the super glue will hold... even though i didn't on my g200... haha
the blorb is a tight fit, its fits... but its really close to the ram

Have you noticed any improvement in stability or higher FSB speeds? Is it worth doing? Perhaps I can just take off the HS, clean up the grease, and put some arctic silver down for now. I just spent a lot for my upcoming case mod projects.

there are two things i know that help a lot, i don't know if its only one or the other but they help...
1) increasing I/O voltage from 3.3 to 3.45
2) blurb w/ artic silver (i know it helps even if the fan is not plugged in)

before i did either i could only get +3 mhz... but after i could get upto +11mhz

i hesitated on the I/O voltage but it seems that most mobos run at 3.5 anyways...
good luck
