I'm having trouble finding a link for your case, so don't know how many fans it already has, or what spaces have already provide. But I don't mind taking a dremel to the case to cut a new opening where I want.

Give me a link and I'll check it out.

But I like one intake fan near the bottom in the front. One intake on the side panel (I aim it toward the CPU/ram/vid card area). Then two exhaust in back near the top, or one exhaust in back near the top and one on the very top.

comes with a 120mm fan stock. Shouldn't be too bad. Are you overclocking? Are you using the stock thermal paste. I would replace it with some AS5.

also what is the threshold temperature for the alarm?

Intel owned you. That prescHOTT processor is to blame.

pretty much all you can do is invest in a big-ass heatsink

you dont have to, that CPU you bought is EXTREMELY hot. at stock speeds, it will hit that threshold

See this THREAD about your CPU's heat characteristics.

If you lower the voltage (vcore) to the cpu, it may become unstable. I don't have any info handy on the stock vcore, but you can google for it and confirm your current vcore setting is correct.

Prescott's are notorious for thier high temps, although you can amerliorate it somewhat with a better heatsink and fan combo (after market solution).

I have a prescot CPU, it's terribly hot within the case. I have to put in like 3 fans inside of my tower. Also, I purchased a PSU with an extra large fan to help air flow within the case. There is a reason why Intel did this, they wanted Intel systems to look cool with a lot of LED fans. LoL... My southbridge sucks.
