Heat sink

Can you take off the stock heat sink of an AMD Athlon 64 Venice with out damaging it?

I will buy a new Heat Sink for my processor but I need to know if there will be no problem.

And any advice will be welcome

Nope, there will be no problem at all. The process is quite self explainatory, so there shouldn't be much of a problem. All you need to do is pull the plastic lever and unhook the heatsink from the base. Very simple.

If you mean a new HSF, then no, that's not a problem.
If you mean prying off the IHS, then yes, you might kill it. Go for it 😀.

An integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) is attached to the package substrate and core and serves as the mating surface for the processor component thermal solution such as a heat sink.

I got this from Intel, I didn't know and search for it, well then I will have no problem with that Thermal Tape that is in the stock HSF? Just for sure.

Thanks for yours replies
