Heat sink removal help

This is probably a dumb question, but does anyone have any hints on how to remove my heatsink. I have a thermaltake valcano 7 covering my 2100+ on a 8rda+ motherboard. my motherboard died this week and i am RMAing it to epox, but i can't seem to get the heat sink off. The thermaltake website give clear instructions on how to install the heatsink, but nowhere have i found any info on how to remove one. i've tried using a screw driver on the clip the same way I installed it, but i can't seem to get enough leverage to push the clip off of the socket. anyone know any tricks to help me so i con't damage the board or cpu in the process?
