I bought a Visiontek 6564 from Ubid for $124 new. The idiots at Ubid sent the retail box with just a label on it and it arrived with one of the heat sinks on the ram off. How important is the heatsink and how should I reattach it? It appears to have been glued or epoxied (sp?). The card is working fine without it and with a temp probe attached directly to the ram I get mid 90's F. I'd rather not RMA it. I doubt I will overclock the card.

I'd say that if you're not having problems, don't worry about it. I'm not sure that the board even needs those heatsinks - they're mainly used for overclockers. Some Ti200 boards don't come with the ramsinks. You'd still be able to overclock it, I don't think it'll make too much of a difference...

This is from a review at Tom's HW.
"The Xtasy family comes along in a rather unobtrusive green color and uses identical blue heatsinks. Unlike most other cards, the heatsinks are only attached to their memory chips at a few contact points using thermally conducive glue, instead of a thermal pad that covers the entire surface of the chip. Consequently, the contact between memory chip and heatsink is limited to these points, reducing the effectiveness of the cooling solution. Realistically speaking, the memory heatsinks are primarily decorative anyway, so this has no effect."
I wouldn't think it would make much difference,But if you could find it try that thermally conducive glue.

Thanks for the replies, I feel better about just leaving it be. The quote from Tom's was good.
