Heat...should I try to do better on my Duron?

My Duron 800 is now reaching 1050 (I am posting this at that speed) just fine. I currently am using generic silicone heatsink compound and a chrom orb. I really never expected to get such a gem of a chip! I just wanted to get around 900 or maybe 950 at most!

My normal temp hangs around 40ºC, bith in sandra and the mobo. After I run some Quake3 for about an hour, it is around 46ºC (low quality so I can give it a decent workout, as my card is a crappy V2). This is with PRime95 running in the background, also.

Now, considering the accuracy issues of the heat sensor, am I likely cooling it enough for long-term use? Is there any way I can tell w/o messing w/ my comp (my case's power supply is on the side, and has to be removed for me to reach the heatsink to feel it)?

TIA

OK. I just have to kinda make damn sure because at 1050 I want to keep this thing running for as long as possible. Heat is the main issue, of course. I really wondered due ti being so much higher than ambient (about 28C).

(I will try 1100 once I get over the feeling of seeing 4 digits when it boots ;) )

me too...mine only stable up to 1000, results in error in prime95 at 1050 and won't boot at 1100 =(, but i guess its good enough for a 700
