Hi everyone I just put together an amd64 computer and it seems to be really hot the idle temp in bios says 45-48 ish and I tried to check it by using motherboard monitor but it didn't have a listing for my motherboard which is a DFI lanparty nf3. Is there one and I just missed it?

This was the first time that I ever put my own computer together so I was wondering if maybe I put on the arctic silver wrong (I followed the instructions on their site and put a little in the middle of the processor) or if the bios reading is just wrong. I really would like to not fry this proc =( so if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated thanks a lot.

What processor is it exactly?

Just FYI I have a FX-55 and it idles at 32-33. Load is at 48-49.
This is using MBM5, bios is reading the same.

Your processor does seem to be a little hot.

Thanks for replying so fast, it is a 3400 newcastle. Did you apply the paste by smoothing it out or just globbing it?

smoothing it out, I used a razor blade and applied a thin coat all over.
