Just opened her up out of the box slapped her together. and started installing windows... AFter windows installation the temp was at 39C.. Seems a little high to me just for a windows installation. I have a vantec (think that's what it's called) heat sink on it.

I know it will atleast do 700mhz easy. that's just with the FSB. wondering. if I overclock it with the multiplier will the heat go up also? of should I shell out some more money to get a fop 32 or something like that? or do I just need more thermal goop....

oh ya. it's a duron 600 week 36 I think, if I remember correctly.....

and one more thing.... How does this pencil trick work? you just stick it inbetween the L1 bridges? I mean there ain't much room inbetween them where they have been removed... I don't see how I can really draw them in to well..... just a question.....

THANKS!

It's always a good idea to get better cooling when you are going to be overclocking. However, it can't hurt to try it out and see what you can get with the cooling you have now. You definitely don't want more thermal paste as too much will actually prevent the heat transfer between the CPU and the heat sink.

Should do pretty well (on average) but you'll just have to play with yours and find out.. :)

You either need to use a really sharp pencil (with a magnifying glass to make sure you don't cross adjacent bridges) or get a Rear-window Defogger Repair kit or a conductive pen and permanently connect the bridges using just one hair from a paintbrush.

No, if you mess up with the pencil, it should not kill your CPU. Just erase them using a standard eraser and try again.

Good chance to do so.
But with a 0.5mm pencil you shouldn't have any worries.
Just look at it when it's done, and if doesn't look good erase ad retry :)

The week 36 batch is pretty good. most hit 950-1Ghz at 1.75-1.8V.

39 degrees is fine. It depends though on your ambient temp, how you installed the probe and whether your MB added compensation for thermister inaccuracies.

Don't use a pencil to unlock use conductive paint and get a FOP38 its the best fan u can get
