Attention hardcore war gamers!

In case you've been sleeping, the HoI 3 Demo was released yesterday, FileFront

The full game will be released tomorrow, you can buy it on Steam for $39.99 and you get the complete HoI2 pack for free, which is great.

Also there's a free gameguide that's supposedly pretty high quality:

Paradox Forums

"NEW YORK, 5th August, 2009 - Paradox Interactive are pleased to announce the release of a free, in-depth Hearts of Iron III Strategy Guide as a reward initiative for their loyal fans, to coincide with the release of the long awaited third installment of the best selling and critically acclaimed World War II Strategy series.

Written by the popular Ed Hanks, the Hearts of Iron III Strategy Guide will be received free-of-charge by everyone that registers their game on the official forum*. The Hearts of Iron series has a loyal and long standing following which is greatly appreciated by the development team at Paradox Interactive, so this is their way of ensuring that those fans will get maximum value from the release of Hearts of iron III as well as acting as a ?thank-you? for their continued support."

Can't wait for tomorrow, gonna be a great weekend!

Thanks I'm going to try out the demo in the hopes that I will actually be able to play without being totally lost. The depth is usually unreal in Paradox games.

BTW, anyone know what ever happened to their Heart of Empire: Rome title?

I've heard it's chronically buggy, like all Paradox games when they're first released.

There are some bugs with the interface, I managed to ah heck my production sliders in my USA game that I spent all day Sat on, it's hosed now.

Pretty fun though, Germany managed to conquer France in 1939 somehow. I believe they invaded, Vichy France spawned, then Vichy France annexed the rest of France giving everything to the Germans.

Haha...France.

I am also not convinced that the AI HQ system actually works, my units either don't do anything or do exactly the opposite of what would accomplish their objective. It's frustrating.

I highly recommend the strat guide, you have to dig through the forums to find it, but it covers basically everything about combat that the tutorial doesn't even mention. Considering how different it is from HOI2, I highly recommend you DL it, it's free.

If you are having very unhistorical game while starting in 1936, check this out.

Propoganda and You

I discovered this a bit too late, started off as Germany, pretty much everyone is joining Allies now, even Japan is Allied now :D Oh well, less DoW for me... Patch is also expected really soon to help out slow downs "lag" from menus and leader menus.

So far I find the game more interesting than previous HoIs.

Update Patch 1.2 released.

Haven't had a chance to try it myself since I'm still at work. But this list of changes and fixes is significant, can't wait to get home.
