You really can’t make this up. Conservatives have been so incensed at the idea of Swedish teen Greta Thunberg telling world leaders what to do. They’ve claimed that she’s just a pawn being used by “climate alarmists”.

So they’ve manufactured their own “Anti Greta”, a German teen who’s paid an “average monthly income” by the Heartland Institute (aka fossil fuels lobby) to be their anti-climate change mouthpiece. She’ll be speaking at CPAC this week!

Even more hilarious, her mother is an AfD lawyer and she’s been linked to the AfD youth wing herself (which she denies—but that’s literally the modern equivalent to the Hitler Youth League!)

But seriously, Greta has accepted offers of carbon-neutral transport to get around to various conferences and UN meetings. Pretty sure various foundations and their well-heeled donors are supporting her, but she isn’t paid to say what she says.

Teenagers are just starting to acquire concepts to understand and have yet to accumulate a truly deep pool of knowledge to work with. They do not have anything new to say but they are more palatable messengers than old people in suits. Youth is the sugar of persuasion.

Environmental damage and climate change are interrelated but not synonymous. Climate change puts drapes on non-emission damage to the environment and propagates an utter disregard for local ecosystems. It's is for city dwellers of LA to absolve themselves of guilt that they live in a concrete jungle and engage in decadent behavior contrary to saving the environment.
