RIP

Will never forget the time I saw him cuss on SNL.

I will never for that time he was fired from SNL weekend update because one NBC executive could not stand him or because the exec was friends with OJ and Norm roasted him relentlessly.

I fell in love with his humor on SNL during Weekend Update when he had this story (paraphrased):

A child was hospitalized after the family's pet cougar suddenly attacked him. When trying to determine a cause for the attack, investigators concluded "IT'S A COUGAR!!!"
I enjoyed his sitcom, too.

One of the best Comedians of the last few decades. A rare and unique talent that will be missed.

yeah, it was him constantly going after OJ that pissed off that exec. He goes into it on Letterman at one point and, not surprisingly, the NBC exec is the same POS that had issues with Letterman when he was on that network.

Amazing how one person like that can have zero sense of humor.

...oh, well then there's fucking Boomer up there! :D

Oh, he was also relentless against Chris Kattan. Norm just...did not like him at all and probably introduced a lot of negativity in the group because of that.

I've always thought of him as one of the funniest guys on the planet ever since I've seen him on SLN and his appearances on Conan in the 90s.

Many people I know just don't like him and simply don't understand how I could find his stuff funny. He was a comedic genius to me.

He's basically every comedian's favorite comedian. Just about all of them say that.

I think I first saw him in the early 90s on Stand Up Stand Up clips on Comedy Central. I think that's also where I first saw Mitch Hedburg.

When Norm went to SNL, I thought it was a bit strange, because it really isn't the right fit--sketches and sketch comedy/writing. He's a joke teller. I wasn't sure what to think about him when they moved him on to Weekend Update after a few years, but he became quite brilliant at it. Overall....I think the average fan hated him on Update. They thought he was the worst. But most people just aren't funny, so it makes sense.

He also wrote for Rosanne and I think it was his only writing gig outside of those years at SNL. I never knew that until fairly recently. He was brought back for the new Rosanne, too. ....not sure if he stayed on after Rosanne was, uh, exiled out of the country. They were really good friends, so I kinda doubt it.

I recall his participation on Who Wants to be a millionaire and how Regis “guided” into a state of doubt and he won only 500k to the charity of his choice. He would have gotten the million dollar question right.

Heard the news on the way home the doctor today. I Had no idea he was fighting cancer.

He always had a grin on his face. The type of grin where you knew this guy was going to say something funny.

Jim Breuer's story about the snl twilight zone sketch.
