Heartbleed is the gift that keeps on giving as servers remain unpatched

This one is driving me nuts. More and more updates, sometimes for the exact same devices... come out and I have to patch repeatedly for the same issue. Random example being our load balancers, Patch 2.005 (random number) Fix: heartbleed. 30 days later: Patch 2.006 Fix: Heartbleed: Patch 2.007 Fix: OpenVPN / Heartbleed.

I wouldn't be 1/2 surprised that this is part of the problem. Seems that most companies still haven't figured out how deep this rabbit hole goes.

That is kind of crazy. I don't have any servers affected but how is the patching process, is it difficult or mainly just some down time?

Downtime but it affects many apps that go through it. Like... Exchange.... Sharepoint... the webservers.... so basically we go "dark" the fail over isn't clean in the sense that all the sessions get dropped when the standby takes over.
