Heart rate monitor

Mookow

Lifer
Where can I get one of these for cheap? I was at a B&M sporting goods store today, and the cheapest one they had was $50. Which seems a little steep for what is essentially a pressure monitor and a clock. I want one for jogging.

Look here.

There are several for $35 with various functions. You're not going to get much cheaper than that.

Hmmmm.... might go for the one for 39.99. Still seems like I'm getting screwed though.
Dude...it's a wireless EKG you can wear on your wrist. Of course it's going to be semi-expensive. You can get them cheaper than $40, but they're not accurate for sh*t, trust me.

Edit- don't even think about the ones that clip on your earlobe or finger. They suck. Go the EKG chest strap or don't bother.

Hmmmm. Well, I'm still not happy about it... time to decide if I want to lay down the cash or continue to hold a finger to my throat and count.

BTW, this is the one I'm looking at: Text. Opinions?

Which is about as accurate as counting telephone poles to see how fast your car's going. 😛 The great thing about a monitor is that they give you instant feedback; they're like a tachometer.

Hmmm....I might caution you to stick with the "bigger" names like Polar (the gold standard) or Cardiosport. I have no idea what backwater asian nation used child labor to make that particular monitor. 😉

So you're more comfortable with Polar and Cardiosport because you KNOW which backwater Asian nations used child labor to produce their heart monitors? 😕 😉

I actually don't know about Cardiosport, but Polar's stuff is made in Finland. It's also about a 100 times more reliable than other monitor brands, which is why it's usually all I recommend. But since the OP is a cheapass....... 😛

You cheap retarded fvck. If you can't play with the big dogs, (IE spend more than $5.95) ... then how bout just learn how to count, and take your own damn pulse.

I have a Polar 720i that retails for over $300. It's amazing. It was worth every penny.

😛
EDIT:
I forgot to mention ... pressure monitor ... hah, it's wireless ekg like Fausto said ..

FWIW, I bought a new Polar A5 on eBay for $65 a while back. It's about as entry level as you can get, but it does everything I need. Perhaps peruse there to see what they are going for.

The A5 works flawlessly, everytime.

I'm going to sell my 620 and upgrade to the 720. I hate having 15 things on my bars. 😛

Global warming? Hippies try to blame everything on global warming. Try plate tectonics. Maybe you should try protesting against it, too. 😛

Counting is what I have been doing. It's not satisfactory. However, the question is whether it is not satisfactory to the tune of almost a full day's work, as I am currently making jack crap as a student worker (though I'm about to get my pay bumped $2/hr next week). Besides which, if I'm going to pay $300 for a heart monitor, there had been be some sort of process involving me getting at least a BJ from a hot "calibration technician" with 38DD's 😉
