PHOENIX - A Phoenix-area restaurant that unabashedly touted its unhealthy menu even after the death of its obese spokesman has closed.

The Arizona Republic reports that the Chandler location of the Heart Attack Grill closed about two weeks ago.

The business' phone is disconnected, and so is the Carefree home phone of owner Jon Basso.

The closure comes two months after the sudden death of the restaurant's 29-year-old, 575-pound spokesman Blair River.

Besides the restaurant's provocatively dressed waitresses - who wore skimpy nurse outfits - the restaurant was known for its calorie-laden fare. That included the Quadruple Bypass Burger, French fries cooked in lard and milkshakes.

Customers weighing more than 350 pounds ate for free.

After River's death, Basso vowed to keep the restaurant open and pay tribute to his friend without changing the menu or his marketing technique.

Had to chuckle a little. To use the expression, the gravy train always has a sad end fatties.

I had a good buddy of mine die 5 years ago. He was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighted about 450 pounds.

He was feeling bad, went to the hospital, had an aneurysm, and died in the emergency room.

The one good thing from his early death, he was not married and did not have any kids.

As for the OP, that sucks.

Well, the spokesman died of presumably a heart attack. Guess nobody can claim the restaurant has false advertising. According to their Facebook page and website, they are indeed remodelling. Their Dallas location is still open.

At least I got to eat there a few times...the girls weren't very attractive both times I went. But those were some good fries. I don't think a single person in my group weighed over 200 pounds, so no special considerations. (and no one dared order the quadruple heart attack burger)
