Hearing Test - what range can you hear?

I'm sad to say that my right ear couldn't hear anything about 12 Khz, and my left ear stopped at 14 Khz... I guess all those concerts had an impact after all. I'm 36.

Edit: I can hear 16KHz with the sound on this computer cranked. It's a moderate noisy listening environment I'm in right now, though.

I am 30 and I can hear up to and including 17khz. My wife who is 29 can hear up to and including 14

I would think a lot would depend on your speakers. If you really want to know how damaged your ears are, you should get real ears test.

Yeah wouldn't some speakers or headphones be unable to broadcast some of those ranges?

I could hear 21. I'm 29. I will have to try it with some better speakers when I get home as I suspect I can hear the 22 as well.

Most decent speakers go to 20 Khz, which is close to the top range of the test. Some sound cards dampen the sound slightly at the higher range, in which case you can turn up the volume slightly to hear it. I had another one of these tests that I thought my speaker was messed up so I cranked it really loud, then a co-worker came over and starting cursing at me for playing "that annoying sound", it sounded like he was coming close to a feeling of violence. I had my speaker cranked to max and couldn't hear it LOL.

In my case at first I thought my headphones were messed up until I realized I could hear 14 Khz on my left ear but not my right ear.

dont feel bad, i cant hear 12k at all. i imagine its the same freq as the constant ringing in my ears ive had since i was a teen. i was raised pretty much backstage and concerts hanging out with my dad, i know all the loud music and stuff has ruined my hearing. my kids bitch all the time that i dont hear them talking.

well thats a glimmer of hope for me then! its fairly loud here at my desk, and im wearing some worn out old headphones. ya, thats gotta be it. seriously.

I'm between 19 and 20. I'm not sure if I can hear on 20, or if it's just ringing still from 19 and I think I hear it!

My right ear stopped after 15 kHz, my left went to 17 kHz. My crappy headphones may have some impact here though.

could also be the speakers, but eh. i thought high frequency hearing fell off pretty quickly. IIRC, some people were interested in using high frequency emitters to drive off teenagers from certain parts of towns.

I can SORT of hear 18, but I'd say 17khz. I'm 28.

I'm questioning my soundcard and headphones, because I heard 17k very clearly in both ears and 18k not at all. I would expect more of a roll off.

Edit:
My headphones stop at 20kHz according to the manufacturer. So the test probably stopped being accurate.

Edit 2:
After turning the volume all the way up, I can hear them all (incl. 22) with decreasing clarity. Higher than 19 just sounded "fuzzy" so I'm not sure if I was really hearing 20-22. I might play with my function generator when I get home.

Heard only up to 15 on my so-so JLabs earbuds... Then plugged in my Shure SCL4 and can now hear 17 for sure, almost 18. Wondering how much is sound card now or if I'm really just getting old. (29)
