hearing loss- reversible?

My hearing isn't terrible but it isn't the greatest (I did a test - I suffer hearing loss at the 2 khz range) - anyone know if it's reversible since I'm young?
 
Have you thought about going to see a <gasp> professional? No really I mean it.

My dads deaf. His started lossing his hearing in his early thirties. There was nothing they could do to fix it. On the other hand hearing aid technology has come a long way. He had some sort of operation to have a device planed in his ear. So now the part that is exposed is not that noticable.

As some one said it could just be ear wax. I have to use these drops on my ears a few times a yera to clean them out.
 
Doing the ear drops adds a few decibels to your hearing--seriously!

My wife, who has amazing hygiene, did the wax removal thing. Each ear had gobs of wax--wax you can never reach with a Q-tip.

I highly recommend anybody reading this thread to do the program for 3-4 days. You won't regret it. And you won't believe how much sh!t will come out-seriously!!
 
hmmm, i was messing around in that last response but over the last few months i've felt like i've been having reduced hearing as well (maybe it's contagious over atot :shocked😉 so anyhow, theeechosenone, can you explain a little more about what you mean?

i'm thinking abotu going to see my otolaryngolist. (ear/nose/throat doctor)
 
Go to Rite-Aid or whatever and buy Debrox over the counter. If you can't find it ask a pharmacist there.

It's ear drops you put in each ear. It'll start to snap, crackle and pop. You leave it in according to directions for a little while.

You do this routine over the course of 3 or 4 days.

You'll know it's working b/c suddenly you'll see a glop of hard wax come out in pieces from your ear after day 2 or 3.

It's a completely harmless experience. The ear drops just loosens the wax that has been built up over the years. Believe me, we all have it!!

I went to the Dr. one time and they used like a water pick and gobs of stuff came out of both of my ears. I was dizzy for a while afterwards from having all of that water still in my head but I could hear great afterwards.
 
They have recently regrown the cilia (little hairs in the ear) in mice and say they should have a method to try on humans within 5-10 years. This was once thought impossible but were there's a will there's a way.
 
You like to blast the radio, eh? I'm sure it's worth it.

Very interesting!

However, as of now, if you are subjected to very loud sounds, you may end up damaging some of the cilia, which die and do not regenerate. THis causes hearing loss at specific frequencies, which is permanent.
 
I usually goto the doctor a couple times a year and get the wax blown out by a giant water syringe type thing. Its a whack experience, but it sure takes out gobs of yummy crap.
 
i'd clean out my ears, but playing in a rock band, the last thing i need is a couple more db's of volume. earplugs are my friend.
